Thoughts About Singing
Sylvia Anderson believes that singers' individual needs are of the utmost importance. She carefully analyzes the voice, breath, color and musicality of all her students. She teaches a firm breath support based upon understanding of the musical phrase. Her students of singing have clear vowels, beauty of tone, understanding of musical line and excellent pronunciation of English, Italian, French and German.
Having sung many years in four languages, she uses the unique inflections of each language to teach style and interpretation. After practice in all the above techniques Ms. Anderson's students progress to auditions within the Bay Area, New York and abroad. She supports her students in applying to Young Artist Programs, Summer Programs, and in creating a resume that is professional in appearance and a reflection of the artist's goals and performing experience.
Studying with Ms. Anderson gives the singer a life-long self-confidence and support at all stages of professional development. Ms. Anderson's students can be heard in many important opera houses and with numerous symphony orchestras in the U.S. and abroad.
